The 8 criteria to check before booking

Every one of these is a yes/no question. If you can't get a straight answer, book someone else.

  1. 01

    DHA home healthcare licence

A clinic licence alone is not enough. Home services require a specific DHA home healthcare licence — verify the number on Sheryan before you book.

  2. 02

    GP-supervised, not nurse-dispatched

Ask who reviews the visit before and after. If the answer is 'the nurse decides', keep looking.

  3. 03

    Named clinician continuity

You should be able to request the same doctor and nurse each time — and be told who is coming, in advance, with a name.

  4. 04

    British or Western clinical training

UK MRCGP, US board-certified family medicine, or European equivalents signal a training standard the concierge market often skips.

  5. 05

    60–90 minute urgent response

A published response window inside the Dubai city grid — not 'later today' — is the mark of an actual on-call service.

  6. 06

    Prescribed, not spa-style IVs

Every drip must be prescribed by a doctor after consultation and delivered by a registered nurse. Van-mixed drips are a regulatory red flag.

  7. 07

    Itemised insurance-coded invoicing

Ask for a sample invoice. Insurance-coded line items are the difference between reimbursement and rejection.

  8. 08

    Same-day written notes

Clinical notes, prescriptions and follow-up plan sent the same evening — not on request, not later, not never.

Home healthcare Dubai — common questions

How do I check if a Dubai home healthcare provider is licensed?+

Every legitimate provider must hold a Dubai Health Authority (DHA) home healthcare licence — separate from a clinic licence. Ask for the licence number and check it on the DHA Sheryan portal before booking.

Is a nurse-led home visit the same as a doctor-led one?+

No. A nurse can deliver a treatment but cannot diagnose, prescribe or independently interpret results. For anything beyond a scheduled task, a GP-supervised model is safer and cheaper long-term.

How fast should a home doctor arrive in Dubai?+

A serious provider commits to 60–90 minutes for urgent visits inside the Dubai city grid, 7 days a week. If the promise is 'later today' or 'tomorrow', it is not really an on-call service.

Should home healthcare providers accept my insurance?+

Most premium home healthcare in Dubai is self-pay with itemised, insurance-coded invoices for reimbursement — because in-network home visits are rare. Ask how the invoice will be structured before booking.

Is IV therapy at home safe?+

Only when prescribed by a doctor after a consultation and administered by a registered nurse from a DHA-licensed clinic. Van-mixed or spa-style drips without a prescription are not permitted under UK, EU or best-practice DHA standards.

Can I see the same clinician every time?+

You should. Continuity is the single strongest predictor of good outcomes. A provider that cannot name the doctor or nurse you will see is delivering commodity dispatch, not care.

Are home visits more expensive than clinic visits?+

Slightly — usually AED 200–400 more per visit — for the travel, kit and same-day access. In exchange, you save the time, traffic and infection exposure of a polyclinic waiting room.

What documentation should I receive after a home visit?+

Full clinical notes, a written prescription, any test requests, sick-leave certificate if needed, and an itemised invoice — usually the same evening. If a provider does not send notes, walk away.
