DHA rules — worth knowing before you book
Every clinic in Dubai must verify identity (Emirates ID or passport) at registration — sexual health tests included. Laboratory results upload to NABIDH, Dubai's health information exchange, where authorised providers you have consented to can view them.

FAQs
What's included in a full STD screen at Aafiyah?+
The standard full panel covers HIV (4th-generation antibody/antigen), syphilis (VDRL & TPHA), hepatitis B (surface antigen), hepatitis C (antibody), plus urine and swab PCR for chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Herpes (HSV-1 & 2 IgG) and HPV are available as add-ons.
How much does an STD test cost in Dubai?+
Individual test from AED 150. Standard 5-panel screen AED 850. Comprehensive 8-panel (adds HSV and Mycoplasma / Ureaplasma) AED 1,450. Home-visit collection is AED 250 extra anywhere in Dubai. Insurance may reimburse when clinically indicated.
Do I need to give my Emirates ID or passport to be tested?+
Yes. All Dubai clinics are required by DHA regulation to verify identity at registration for laboratory testing — this applies to STI tests too. Results are stored in your medical record and, like all DHA-licensed clinic results, upload to the NABIDH health information exchange. We explain exactly who can see what before you consent.
How long do results take?+
Rapid HIV & syphilis: 20 minutes in-clinic. Full lab panel: 24–72 hours. A doctor reviews every result and phones you personally — positive or negative — so nothing is delivered by email alone.
When should I get tested after possible exposure?+
Chlamydia and gonorrhoea are reliable from 2 weeks post-exposure. 4th-generation HIV is reliable from 4 weeks and definitive at 6 weeks. Syphilis, hepatitis B and hepatitis C need 12 weeks for a fully negative result. Earlier testing is possible but may need repeating.
Can I have the test done at home instead of the clinic?+
Yes. A DHA-licensed nurse can attend your home or hotel in Dubai and take blood, urine and self-collected swabs. The doctor consultation happens by video before and after. Home-visit surcharge is AED 250.
What happens if a test comes back positive?+
Your doctor phones you the same day the result arrives. We arrange treatment (oral antibiotics for chlamydia/gonorrhoea in clinic that day, referral pathways for HIV/hepatitis to DHA specialist services), partner-notification support, and follow-up test-of-cure at 4–12 weeks depending on the infection.
Will my employer or insurer be told?+
Aafiyah does not share results with your employer. As with any DHA-licensed clinic in Dubai, laboratory results upload to the NABIDH health information exchange, which authorised healthcare providers you consent to can access. Insurance is only billed if you ask us to bill it.
