What Is the Dubai Longevity Authority?

The Dubai Longevity Authority (DLA) is the emirate's new regulator for longevity, wellness and advanced healthcare — established under Law No. 17 of 2026 and chaired within the Dubai Economy & Tourism framework.

What the DLA is

The Dubai Longevity Authority was established by Law No. 17 of 2026 as a dedicated regulator for the longevity, wellness and advanced healthcare sector in the emirate of Dubai. Its remit spans the full value chain — from research and development, through clinical trials and manufacturing, into the delivery of longevity services in licensed clinics.

The DLA sits within the Dubai Economy & Tourism (DET) framework, reflecting Dubai's strategic position that longevity is both a health priority and an economic sector. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed serves as President of the Authority, with His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri as Chairman.

What the DLA regulates

The Authority is designed to oversee the entire longevity ecosystem: laboratories and R&D centres, clinical trial infrastructure, manufacturing of longevity-related therapeutics and diagnostics, and the clinics and practitioners who deliver longevity care to patients.

This is a deliberately broad remit. It signals that Dubai intends to license and quality-assure longevity as a discipline — not leave it to the wellness market. As DLA guidance is published, we expect clearer definitions of what constitutes a longevity clinic, minimum standards for biomarker programmes, and standards for advertising and consumer claims.

How the DLA relates to the DHA

The DLA does not replace the Dubai Health Authority. The DHA continues to license clinicians and healthcare facilities in the emirate under existing regulations. The DLA is expected to coordinate with the DHA, adding a longevity-specific regulatory layer over healthcare providers already licensed under the DHA framework.

For patients, the practical consequence is that longevity services should be delivered by DHA-licensed clinicians and facilities today, with additional DLA-specific standards to follow as the Authority publishes its guidance.

What it means for patients in Dubai

For residents, the DLA is significant for three reasons. First, it will bring regulatory clarity to a category that has historically overlapped with wellness marketing. Second, it will raise the floor on quality — clinics claiming to deliver longevity medicine will need to meet defined standards. Third, it positions Dubai as a global centre for longevity research and care, which over time should expand access to evidence-based interventions.

In the interim, patients should look for the same markers of quality that have always mattered: a DHA-licensed clinic, clinicians with recognised training, an evidence-based approach to biomarkers and intervention, and continuity of care with a named doctor.

How Aafiyah is positioned

Aafiyah Care Clinic is a DHA-licensed British-led private GP practice in Business Bay. Our longevity model is built around what the primary-care evidence base has long supported — continuity with a named British-trained GP, an annual comprehensive biomarker panel, structured lifestyle medicine and early detection.

We are actively monitoring DLA guidance as it is published and will align to any additional longevity-specific standards it introduces. Our position is that the strongest longevity intervention available today — a named GP who knows you, reviewing the same person year after year — is already the foundation the DLA framework is likely to build on.
