Cough, breathlessness and wheeze are among the most common reasons patients see a GP in Dubai. Air-conditioned indoor environments, dust and outdoor humidity can all play a role.
A structured respiratory assessment covers the pattern of symptoms, exposures, examination, oxygen saturation and, where appropriate, chest imaging via our imaging partners. Most acute infections and asthma flares are managed in primary care.

FAQs
How long is 'too long' for a cough?+
Most viral coughs settle within 3 weeks. A cough lasting more than 3 weeks — especially with weight loss, night sweats or blood in the sputum — should be assessed clinically and usually warrants a chest X-ray.
Can air conditioning cause a cough in Dubai?+
Dry indoor air, dust, mould and sudden temperature changes between outdoor heat and cold air-conditioned buildings can all irritate airways. This is common in Dubai but should not be assumed as the cause without ruling out infection, asthma, reflux and post-nasal drip.
