ApoB
Counts the actual number of atherogenic particles — often a better risk marker than LDL alone, particularly if your triglycerides are high.
Lipoprotein(a)
A largely genetic, once-in-a-lifetime measurement that identifies inherited risk standard cholesterol testing misses.
HbA1c & glucose
Diabetes and prediabetes are among the strongest drivers of cardiovascular risk.
Kidney function & hs-CRP
Kidney function and inflammation both modify long-term cardiovascular risk.

What is included in a heart health check in Dubai?+
At Aafiyah: a GP consultation, blood pressure, a full lipid profile, ApoB and Lp(a) on request, HbA1c and glucose, kidney function and inflammatory markers, plus a formal cardiovascular risk assessment and a written plan. An ECG or onward cardiology referral is arranged when clinically indicated.
What is ApoB, and is it better than LDL cholesterol?+
ApoB counts the number of cholesterol-carrying particles that can enter the artery wall, whereas LDL measures the cholesterol carried inside them. When triglycerides are high or LDL looks deceptively normal, ApoB gives a more accurate picture of risk. We use both together.
What is lipoprotein(a) and who should test it?+
Lp(a) is an inherited lipoprotein that raises cardiovascular risk independently of lifestyle. Levels are largely fixed by genetics, so it usually needs measuring only once in a lifetime. It is particularly worth checking if a close relative had a heart attack or stroke before 60.
At what age should I have a heart health check in Dubai?+
From around 35 for most adults, and earlier if you have a family history of early heart disease, South Asian or Middle Eastern heritage, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, or you smoke. Your GP will advise how often to repeat it.
Can the heart check be done at home?+
Yes. A DHA-licensed nurse can take the bloods and record your blood pressure at your home, hotel or office anywhere in Dubai, and your GP reviews the results with you afterwards.
How much does a heart health check cost?+
A GP consultation is from AED 400 in clinic and AED 500 at home; the blood panel is priced by the markers selected and confirmed with you before anything is taken. We are self-pay and issue a fully coded invoice you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement.
