Clinic visits vs a home programme: which weight loss route suits you?
This is the question we are asked most after cost. It matters less than patients expect, because the clinical content does not change: the same GP reviews you monthly, the same panel is repeated every three months, and the same DHA-licensed pharmacy dispenses your medicine.
What changes is logistics and what can be measured in person. Below is an honest comparison, including where the home route is genuinely weaker.
Side by side, on the criteria that change the plan
| Criterion | In-clinic programme (Business Bay) | Home / remote programme |
|---|---|---|
| First consultation | Face to face at Unit G09, Churchill Executive Towers, Business Bay | Video consultation, or a doctor home visit if you prefer in-person |
| Baseline and 3-monthly bloods | Drawn in clinic, same-day for most markers | Drawn by a DHA-licensed nurse at your home; identical laboratory panel |
| Physical examination | Full examination, blood pressure, waist and body composition on clinic equipment | Blood pressure and measurements taken at the nurse visit; examination at a home visit if needed |
| Medication supply | Collected at your appointment | Cold-chain delivery to your door anywhere in Dubai |
| Injection teaching | Nurse demonstration at the clinic | Nurse demonstration at your home, or by video |
| Monthly reviews | In person, typically 20–30 minutes | Video, same duration and same dose-titration decisions |
| Between-review contact | Direct WhatsApp access to the care team | Direct WhatsApp access to the care team |
| Cost | Programme from AED 2,999 per month | Programme from AED 2,999 per month; home nurse visits and delivery may add a location-based charge |
| Best for | Complex medical history, first assessment, anyone who wants hands-on review | Long working hours, school runs, frequent travel, privacy, mobility limits |
Trial figures are population averages, not a prediction for any individual. Your doctor confirms suitability, dose and expected outcome at consultation.
How our GPs actually decide
Come into clinic when
- —It is your first assessment and there is a complicated history to work through
- —You want body composition measured on the same machine each time
- —Symptoms need a physical examination — abdominal pain, palpitations, swelling
- —You live or work near Business Bay and prefer face-to-face care
Run it from home when
- —Clinic hours do not fit your work or family schedule
- —You travel often and need reviews that follow you
- —Discretion matters and you would rather not sit in a waiting room
- —Mobility, pregnancy-related fatigue or caring duties make travel hard
You do not have to pick one and stay there
Most of our patients run a hybrid: an in-clinic baseline where the examination and body composition happen properly, then video reviews with nurse home bloods for the following months, and an in-person visit again at six or twelve months.
Switching is a message, not a re-registration. Tell the care team on WhatsApp before your next review and we move the appointment type, arrange the nurse visit or book you into Business Bay instead. Your notes, bloods and dose history follow you either way.
Dubai-specific practicalities
Summer is the main driver. Between June and September many patients move to home reviews simply to avoid the heat and traffic, then return to clinic in the cooler months. That pattern is fine and does not interrupt titration.
Home visits reach residential and business communities across Dubai, from Business Bay and Downtown to Jumeirah, Arabian Ranches and the Marina. Location determines the visit charge and the arrival window, which we confirm before booking.
Ramadan changes dosing timing and blood-draw scheduling more than it changes the route. We plan fasting-compatible injection days and early-morning fasted bloods for either option.
Whichever medicine your doctor chooses, the programme is the same
One doctor-led programme in three tiers — Foundation AED 2,999/month, Accelerate AED 3,499/month, Complete Metabolic AED 3,999/month. The tier reflects the medicine and level of support your doctor recommends, not the brand name on the pen.
- ✓Prescription from a named British GP (DHA-licensed) where clinically appropriate
- ✓Monthly GP review with dose titration
- ✓Baseline bloods, then repeat bloods every 3 months
- ✓Direct WhatsApp access to your care team
- ✓Cold-chain pharmacy delivery anywhere in Dubai, or in-clinic collection
- ✓No joining fee, no long-term contract
Medication is arranged through a DHA-licensed pharmacy partner and your final cost is confirmed by your doctor at consultation. UAE health insurance does not typically fund GLP-1 medication for weight management — we issue a fully coded invoice you can submit yourself.
Clinic vs home: questions Dubai patients ask
Do I get worse results running the weight loss programme from home?+
No. The medicine, dose ladder, review frequency and blood monitoring are identical, and those are what drive the result. The only genuine trade-off is in-person examination and body composition on clinic equipment, which many patients arrange once or twice a year.
Who draws my blood if I never visit the clinic?+
A DHA-licensed nurse comes to your home or office at a booked window, takes the same panel a clinic phlebotomist would, and the samples go to the same accredited laboratory. Your GP interprets the results at your next review rather than emailing you a PDF.
How is the medication kept cold on the way to me?+
Our pharmacy partner dispenses into a temperature-controlled cold box for delivery anywhere in Dubai, and you store the pen in the fridge on arrival. If a delivery is delayed or arrives warm, contact the care team and we replace it rather than have you use it.
Does the home programme cost more in Dubai?+
The programme fee is the same — from AED 2,999 per month. Home nurse visits and cold-chain delivery can carry an additional charge depending on your area, which we quote before you book so there is no surprise on the invoice.
Can I start at home and come to the clinic later?+
Yes, and many patients do exactly that. A video consultation with nurse home bloods is a perfectly sound start; you can book a Business Bay review whenever you want a hands-on assessment or body composition measurement.
Will I always see the same doctor either way?+
Continuity is the point of the programme, so you stay with the same GP for your monthly reviews wherever they happen. If your usual doctor is away, whoever covers you works from the same notes, blood trend and dose plan.
