Hormones read in context.
Cycle-timed hormone panels with thyroid, iron and vitamin D, interpreted by a British-trained female GP — perimenopause, PCOS, cycle changes, PMS, hair loss and HRT.
Eight hormonal questions women actually arrive with.
Perimenopause and menopause
Symptoms rarely arrive as hot flushes first — broken sleep, anxiety, joint aches and brain fog usually come earlier. Assessment is symptom-led with FSH, LH, oestradiol, thyroid and ferritin used as supporting evidence, never as a single yes/no test.
HRT initiation and review
Body-identical oestrogen and micronised progesterone discussed against your history, blood pressure, migraine and clot risk, then reviewed at 3 months and annually with dose adjustment rather than a repeat script.
PCOS and androgen excess
Rotterdam-criteria assessment: cycle history, testosterone, SHBG, free androgen index, DHEA-S, LH/FSH, prolactin, HbA1c and lipids, with ultrasound referral where it changes the answer.
Cycle changes and heavy periods
Heavy, painful, irregular or absent cycles worked up with full blood count, ferritin, thyroid, coagulation and hormone profile before any treatment decision — iron deficiency is the most commonly missed consequence.
Thyroid and hormone overlap
Thyroid disease imitates almost every hormonal complaint. TSH, free T4, free T3 and antibodies where indicated are part of every hormonal work-up, not a separate appointment.
Fertility and pre-conception hormones
AMH, FSH, LH, oestradiol, prolactin, TSH, vitamin D and ferritin timed correctly, with rubella and varicella immunity for pre-conception planning and referral where specialist input is warranted.
PMS and PMDD
Two cycles of structured symptom tracking alongside hormone and thyroid testing separates cyclical mood change from a primary mood disorder — the two need different treatment.
Hair, skin and weight change
Hair thinning, adult acne and stubborn central weight are hormonal signals worth investigating: androgens, thyroid, ferritin, vitamin D and insulin resistance are checked together.
The right day matters more than the bigger panel.
Most unhelpful hormone reports in Dubai are not wrong — they were simply taken on the wrong day. This is the schedule our nurses book to.
Day 2–5 of your cycle
FSH, LH and oestradiol — the baseline window that makes results interpretable.
Day 21 (or 7 days before your period)
Progesterone, to see whether ovulation occurred.
Any day
Thyroid, ferritin, vitamin D, B12, HbA1c, testosterone, SHBG, prolactin and AMH.
No regular cycle, or on contraception
Timing stops mattering; the panel changes instead, and your GP interprets against your method.

Testing, timing and treatment.
What does a women's hormonal health assessment in Dubai include?+
A consultation with a British-trained female GP, a cycle-timed hormone panel (FSH, LH, oestradiol, progesterone, prolactin, testosterone and SHBG as relevant), thyroid function, ferritin and iron studies, vitamin D and B12, plus HbA1c and lipids where symptoms point that way — then a results call where every marker is explained against your symptoms.
When in my cycle should hormones be tested?+
Day 2–5 for FSH, LH and oestradiol, and day 21 (or seven days before your next period) for progesterone. Thyroid, ferritin, vitamin D, testosterone, SHBG, prolactin and AMH can be taken on any day. If your cycles are irregular or you use hormonal contraception, the panel is adjusted rather than the timing.
Can a blood test confirm perimenopause?+
No single test confirms it, because hormone levels swing from cycle to cycle in perimenopause. Diagnosis is clinical — your symptom pattern and age — with FSH, oestradiol, thyroid and ferritin used to support the picture and rule out imitators such as thyroid disease and iron deficiency.
Do you prescribe HRT in Dubai?+
Yes. A GP reviews your symptoms, medical and family history, blood pressure, migraine pattern and clot risk, then discusses body-identical oestrogen with micronised progesterone where appropriate, including non-hormonal alternatives. Review is at three months, then annually, with the dose adjusted to symptoms.
Is a female doctor available?+
Yes — a British-trained female GP and a female DHA-licensed nurse are available. Mention your preference when you get in touch and we will arrange it for both the consultation and the blood draw.
Can the blood test be done at home?+
Yes. A female nurse can take the sample at your home, hotel or office anywhere in Dubai; the visit fee is AED 250 plus the tests. Examinations, Pap smear and ECG are done at our Business Bay clinic.
How much does a hormone panel cost?+
A women's hormone consultation with bloods starts from AED 900, and the Complete Hormone Health Check — full hormone panel, thyroid, vitamin D, ferritin, full bloods, ECG, breast examination, Pap smear and HPV testing with a GP consultation — starts from AED 1,800.
Do I need a gynaecologist instead of a GP?+
For hormone testing, perimenopause, HRT, PCOS assessment, cycle problems and thyroid overlap, a GP is the right first stop and can manage most of it end to end. Where imaging, surgery or specialist fertility care is needed, we refer and stay involved rather than handing you over.
How long do results take?+
Thyroid, ferritin, vitamin D and full blood count are usually back the same day when the sample is taken before late morning. Hormone assays typically take 24–48 hours. Your GP calls you once the full set has returned so nothing is explained in isolation.
Can hormonal issues explain fatigue and weight gain?+
Often, but rarely alone. Thyroid disease, iron deficiency, perimenopause, PCOS-related insulin resistance, vitamin D deficiency and sleep disruption all present as tiredness with weight change, and several usually coexist. Testing them together is what makes the answer usable.
