The "Dubai flu"? See a GP today — clinic or home.
The Dubai flu is the seasonal wave of respiratory viruses that flattens residents every winter. Fever, body aches, chesty cough and exhaustion for a week. A British-trained GP will see you the same day, test if needed, prescribe properly, and issue a DHA sick leave certificate — at your home in 60–90 minutes or at our Business Bay clinic.
Why it happens in Dubai
Winter respiratory viruses
Influenza A/B, RSV, rhinovirus, adenovirus and COVID all circulate hard between November and March across offices, schools and Metro cabins.
Air-conditioning + dry indoor air
24/7 AC dries out airways and impairs the nasal defence layer, making viral entry easier and coughs more persistent.
Travel & event spikes
GITEX, Expo weekends, half-term flights and school return waves consistently trigger surges through our clinic.
Dust storms & sudden weather flips
Sandy khareef days and shamal winds inflame the airways and layer bronchitis on top of a viral infection.

FAQs
What is the 'Dubai flu'?+
‘Dubai flu' is a colloquial name for the wave of respiratory viruses (influenza A/B, RSV, adenovirus, rhinovirus, COVID-19) that hit residents through winter and after big travel/event weekends. It typically presents with a sudden fever, body aches, chesty cough and exhaustion lasting 5–10 days.
How fast can a doctor see me for the Dubai flu?+
Our doctor on call reaches most Dubai areas within 60–90 minutes — Downtown, Marina, Palm, Business Bay, Jumeirah, JBR, Al Barsha. Home visits run 24/7 including nights and weekends.
Do I need antibiotics for the Dubai flu?+
Usually no — most cases are viral and antibiotics don't help. Our GP will examine you, decide if a bacterial chest or sinus infection is layered on top, and only prescribe antibiotics when clinically indicated. Antivirals may help influenza if started within 48 hours.
Can I get a DHA sick leave certificate for the flu?+
Yes. After a real consultation (clinic, home or telemedicine) our DHA-licensed GPs issue a valid sick leave certificate accepted by all UAE employers, usually the same day.
When should I go to A&E?+
Call 998 or go to A&E for breathlessness at rest, chest pain, confusion, blue lips, seizures, or a child who is floppy/unresponsive. Everything else — we handle at home or in the Business Bay clinic.
Do you offer IV drips for flu dehydration?+
Yes. Our doctor-supervised IV hydration drips are delivered at your home in Dubai, usually within an hour, with anti-nausea and pain relief added when clinically appropriate.
Do you take insurance?+
Insurance reimbursement support available — we issue a fully coded invoice and supporting documentation for your claim. Otherwise pay by card and we issue a claim-ready invoice.
