Can I See a Doctor Online in Dubai?
Online doctor consultations are fully legal and DHA-regulated in Dubai. Here's what video GP visits can do, what they can't, and how to know when you should book one instead of a clinic visit.
Yes — it's fully legal and regulated
The Dubai Health Authority has formally regulated telemedicine since 2019 under the DHA Telehealth Standards. DHA-licensed doctors can conduct video consultations, issue digital prescriptions for most medications, write sick leave certificates and refer for tests or specialists — all without an in-person visit.
What an online consultation is great for
Repeat prescriptions for stable chronic conditions, routine infections (UTI, throat, skin), contraception advice, mental health and anxiety reviews, travel medicine consultations, results interpretation, second opinions, post-op check-ins, paediatric reassurance for parents, sick notes for self-limiting illness, lifestyle and weight management coaching.
What it can't replace
Anything that requires a physical examination — chest auscultation, abdominal palpation, joint examination, ear/throat inspection (without a home otoscope), genital or breast examination, neurological exam. Anything emergency-grade — chest pain, severe breathing problems, heavy bleeding, stroke symptoms. Controlled medications under UAE law require an in-person assessment.
What it costs at Aafiyah
20-minute video consultation: AED 400. 40-minute extended consultation (complex problem, multiple issues, results review): AED 600. Includes digital prescription where appropriate, sick note if clinically indicated, follow-up message within 48 hours.
How a telemedicine visit works
WhatsApp or call +971 4 566 1486 to book a slot. We send a secure video link. You join from your phone or laptop — ideally with good light and a quiet room. The doctor consults, examines visually where possible, and arrives at a plan. Prescriptions are sent digitally to your pharmacy of choice; sick notes arrive by email; any in-person follow-up or home visit is arranged on the same call.
