How Much Does a GP Visit Cost in Dubai? A 2026 Price Guide

Clinic, home visit, video consult, with and without insurance — exactly what a GP visit costs in Dubai in 2026, with no hidden fees.

Why Dubai GP pricing feels confusing

Walk into any clinic in Dubai and the consultation fee on the wall is rarely the price you actually pay. There are insurance copays, registration fees, follow-up rules, after-hours surcharges and a separate bill for any test, dressing or injection. Patients regularly tell us they were quoted AED 250 over the phone and left with a bill closer to AED 900. That isn't because Dubai is expensive — it is because pricing is rarely explained upfront.

This guide breaks down what a GP visit actually costs in Dubai in 2026, across every common scenario: in-clinic, home visit, video consult, with insurance, without insurance, weekday, weekend, and out of hours. All figures reflect typical Business Bay and central-Dubai pricing for British-trained or DHA-licensed family medicine consultants.

In-clinic GP consultation

A standard private GP consultation in Dubai ranges from AED 300 at corporate-volume clinics to AED 900 at premium concierge practices. The sweet spot for a 20–30 minute consultation with a senior GP is AED 500–700.

At Aafiyah Care, a 30-minute in-clinic consultation with a British-trained GP is AED 500. Follow-up within 14 days for the same problem is included at no charge. There is no separate registration fee, no after-hours surcharge during published opening hours, and no consumables fee for routine examinations.

Home visit GP

Home visit fees in Dubai vary widely. Discount apps quote AED 350 but send junior doctors with limited diagnostic kit. Concierge home visit services charge AED 1,500–2,500.

Our home visit fee is AED 500 anywhere in central Dubai — Business Bay, Downtown, DIFC, Jumeirah, JLT, JVC, JVT, Marina, Palm Jumeirah, Mirdif. The GP arrives with a full diagnostic bag (otoscope, oxygen saturation, urine dipsticks, ECG, point-of-care testing, common emergency medications) and the home visit fee includes a follow-up video call within 48 hours.

Video / telemedicine consultation

A licensed telemedicine consultation in Dubai typically costs AED 150–350. Many platforms charge per minute, which encourages short, scripted calls. We charge a flat AED 250 for a 20-minute video consult with a named GP, with the same continuity of care as an in-person visit and the ability to issue prescriptions, sick certificates and lab requests legally under DHA telemedicine regulations.

With insurance: what you actually pay

If your insurance is in-network, your out-of-pocket cost is the copay — typically 20% of the consultation fee, with a per-visit cap of AED 50–150 depending on your plan. We are paneled with most major Dubai insurers including AXA, Cigna, Daman, MetLife, Now Health, Bupa Global, Allianz and Oman Insurance.

Out-of-network reimbursement still works on most international plans — we provide an itemised, coded invoice that you submit to your insurer for partial reimbursement, typically 70–80% of the consultation fee.

Without insurance: the cash patient guide

Cash patients in Dubai are often quoted inflated rates. Our self-pay pricing is the same as our insurer-contracted rate: AED 500 in clinic, AED 500 at home, AED 250 by video. We do not charge a tourist tax, a weekend surcharge or a Ramadan surcharge.

If you need a one-off visit during a Dubai visit, the total cost including basic bloods (CBC, electrolytes, glucose, CRP) is typically AED 950–1,200 — fully receipted for travel insurance claims.

What can push the bill up

Routine bloods (CBC, U&E, LFTs, lipid panel, HbA1c, vitamin D, thyroid): AED 600–900. Urine MC&S: AED 150. ECG with interpretation: AED 200. Nebuliser treatment: AED 250. IM injection (antibiotic, vitamin B12): AED 150. Stitches/suturing: AED 400–800. IV fluids in-clinic: AED 500–900.

We quote the full likely cost before any test or treatment, in writing if you ask. No tests are run unless you have agreed to the cost.

Hidden costs to ask about

Before you book any GP in Dubai, ask: Is this fee for the doctor's time only, or does it include basic equipment use? Is there a separate prescription or sick note fee? Is the follow-up visit charged again? Is the consultation fee waived if I proceed with a treatment package? Honest clinics answer all four in writing.

Bottom line

In 2026, a transparent benchmark for a British-trained GP in central Dubai is AED 500 in clinic, AED 500 at home, AED 250 by video, with most insurance plans reducing your share to a small copay. Anything significantly higher should come with a clear explanation of what extra you are getting. Anything significantly lower usually means a junior doctor, a rushed slot or a hidden upsell.

Frequently asked

Is GP consultation free with Dubai insurance?

Rarely fully free, but most in-network plans reduce your share to a copay of AED 50–150 per visit. Some corporate plans have a zero copay for GP visits — check your schedule of benefits.

Why are home visit doctors so expensive in Dubai?

The fee covers the doctor's travel time, a full mobile diagnostic kit, controlled-drug logistics and the licensing required to deliver care outside a clinic. A fair central-Dubai home visit fee in 2026 is AED 700–900.

Can I claim a private GP visit on travel insurance?

Yes. Ask for an itemised invoice with the doctor's licence number, ICD-10 diagnosis code and CPT procedure code. Most major travel insurers reimburse 70–100% of the consultation cost.
