What we do differently
An IgG panel that flags 40 foods as "reactive" isn't clinically useful — it's a diet you can't follow. Our GPs interpret every positive against your symptom diary and, where relevant, guide a structured elimination and reintroduction over 6–8 weeks. That's the difference between test data and clinical care.
What you should NOT do
Don't order an IgG panel from an online lab, remove 30 foods based on the PDF, and end up nutritionally deficient six weeks later. And don't rely on IgG testing for true allergy — if you've ever had swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, you need specific IgE and an EpiPen conversation, not an intolerance panel.

What allergy tests do you offer in Dubai?+
Aafiyah offers specific IgE blood testing for airborne allergens (dust mites, pet dander, pollens, moulds), food allergens (nuts, egg, milk, wheat, shellfish, sesame), drug allergens, and full regional panels covering the Gulf's specific allergen mix. All samples are drawn at your home by a DHA-licensed nurse and processed at an accredited Dubai lab.
What is the difference between an allergy test and a food intolerance test?+
Allergy tests (specific IgE) detect true immune-mediated allergy — rapid, sometimes anaphylactic, reactions. Food intolerance tests (IgG) measure delayed food-specific antibodies linked to bloating, fatigue, headaches and gut symptoms. IgE is diagnostic; IgG guides an elimination diet. The GP will explain which one fits your symptoms before we draw blood.
How much does an allergy test cost in Dubai?+
At Aafiyah, a targeted 10-allergen IgE panel starts from AED 850 including the home nurse visit and a GP results consultation. Comprehensive 40+ IgE panels are AED 1,600. A 200-food IgG intolerance panel is AED 1,450. Prices include phlebotomy, lab fees, and a written interpretation.
Do I need to fast or stop antihistamines before the test?+
No fasting required for blood allergy tests — unlike skin-prick testing, IgE and IgG blood tests are not affected by antihistamines, so you can continue your usual medication. Bring a symptom diary if you have one; it helps the doctor interpret borderline results.
How fast will I get my allergy test results?+
Specific IgE and IgG food intolerance results are back in 3–5 working days. A GP calls you personally to walk through what's positive, what's clinically relevant (many positives are not), and what to eliminate or reintroduce. You also receive a written report and dietary plan by email.
Can you test children at home?+
Yes. Our paediatric-trained nurses regularly draw bloods on children aged 2+ in the comfort of home — usually far less distressing than a clinic visit. For infants under 2 we recommend a clinic appointment with our GP first to decide whether testing is genuinely needed.
What common Dubai allergens should I be tested for?+
The Gulf region has a distinct allergen profile — date palm pollen, Bermuda and Chenopodium grass, house dust mite (very high year-round due to AC humidity), cat and camel dander, and Aspergillus mould from AC units. Our regional panel is built around these plus the standard food allergens.
Are food intolerance (IgG) tests scientifically valid?+
IgG food intolerance testing is not diagnostic in the way IgE allergy testing is — international allergy societies note it should not be used to diagnose allergy. However, many patients find it a useful starting point for a structured elimination-and-reintroduction diet under GP supervision, which is how we use it at Aafiyah. We will always be honest about what a positive result does and does not mean.
