GP-Supervised · Dubai

Doctor-led healthcare, every single visit.

GP-supervised healthcare is the UK model of primary care: one named British-trained GP holds clinical responsibility for every consultation, test, drip and home visit. In Dubai, it is still the exception — at Aafiyah, it is the standard.

GP-Supervised Healthcare · Dubai

A model of care in which every consultation, investigation and treatment is ordered, reviewed and owned by a single named General Practitioner — replacing the fragmented, visit-by-visit model common in Dubai clinics.

What GP-supervised actually changes

Every drip is prescribed

No IV is prepared without a GP consultation, prescription and clinical reason — the UK legal standard applied in Dubai.

Every blood test is interpreted

Results are read by the GP who ordered them, then explained to you in writing — never released as a raw PDF.

Every home visit is briefed

The nurse or doctor arriving at your door has been briefed by your GP on history, medications and goals — no cold starts.

Every referral is owned

Your GP chooses the specialist, writes the referral, and integrates their letter back into your record.

Every prescription is reviewed

One GP holds your medication list — catching interactions, duplications and side-effects a fragmented system misses.

Every episode is documented

One continuous file — not one chart per clinic — so nothing is lost between visits or years.

What to look for in a GP-supervised provider in Dubai

Many Dubai clinics describe themselves as 'doctor-led'. Use these criteria to check if that is actually true.

  1. 01

A named GP, not a team

You should be able to state your GP's name at any moment — not the clinic's name.

  2. 02

    GP writes the drip order

Ask to see the prescription. If a nurse can start an IV without a doctor's written order, the service is not GP-supervised.

  3. 03

    GP reviews every blood

Results should arrive with a written GP interpretation, not just a lab PDF.

  4. 04

    GP briefs the home visitor

The nurse or doctor at your door should mention your history — proof they were briefed, not dispatched blind.

  5. 05

    One record, not per-clinic charts

One continuous file accessible in real time to your GP — the technical baseline for supervision.

  6. 06

    British or Western GP training

UK MRCGP, US board-certified family medicine or European equivalents signal the training the UK model assumes.

  7. 07

    Direct access to the GP

WhatsApp or phone to the doctor — not to a triage call centre. Supervision is impossible without contact.

  8. 08

    Capped patient list

A GP practising real supervision limits their patient numbers. Unlimited enrolment is incompatible with genuine oversight.

The Aafiyah standard for GP-supervised healthcare

Aafiyah was built to bring the UK's doctor-led primary care model into Dubai. Every service — clinic, home, blood, drip, referral — runs under one named British-trained GP.

Named British GP

One family medicine consultant is clinically responsible for every service you receive.

One Full Record

Every consult, blood, drip and home visit lives in a single continuous file.

GP-Prescribed Drips

No IV is administered without a doctor's consultation, prescription and review.

GP-Reviewed Bloods

Every result is interpreted in writing by the GP who ordered it.

Briefed Home Visits

Every nurse or doctor at your door has been briefed by your GP.

Capped Capacity

Platinum places are strictly limited so genuine supervision is possible.

GP-supervised healthcare — common questions

What does GP-supervised healthcare mean?+

It means a British-trained General Practitioner (family medicine consultant) is clinically responsible for every service you receive — from a nurse home visit to an IV drip to a blood test — and reviews the results, not a technician or a rotating locum.

How is GP-supervised different from nurse-led or clinic-based care?+

Nurse-led services deliver the treatment but rarely diagnose, prescribe or interpret results. Clinic-based Dubai care often rotates doctors visit-by-visit. GP-supervised means one named doctor owns the clinical decision, every time.

Why does GP supervision matter for a simple blood test?+

A blood result is only useful if a clinician who knows you interprets it in context — your history, medications, symptoms and trajectory. Un-supervised bloods produce PDFs; GP-supervised bloods produce decisions.

Is IV therapy safe without a doctor?+

IV drips administered without a doctor's prescription and review are increasingly flagged by regulators worldwide. In the UK, IV vitamin therapy without a prescribing clinician is not permitted. Aafiyah requires a GP consultation and prescription before any drip is prepared.

Does GP-supervised healthcare cost more?+

Per-visit fees are similar to Dubai concierge providers. The value is that fewer visits, tests and referrals are wasted — because the GP catches the right thing the first time and coordinates the plan.

Who supervises home visits at Aafiyah?+

Every Aafiyah home visit — doctor, nurse, phlebotomist or IV — is booked, briefed and reviewed by the patient's named British-trained GP, with written notes filed in one continuous record.

Is this the same as the UK NHS model?+

Yes — it is the UK's list-based general practice model transplanted into private Dubai medicine: one named GP, one full record, GP-owned decisions, cradle-to-grave continuity.

Do you refer to specialists under GP supervision?+

Yes. Your GP writes every referral, receives every specialist letter and integrates the plan into your record — so no episode of care is orphaned outside your primary file.
