We are a GP-led clinic in Business Bay, not an imaging centre. A doctor decides whether a scan is the right next step, refers you to an accredited radiology partner, and then explains the report against your symptoms.
Reasons we refer for ultrasound.
Abdominal pain or bloating
Gallstones, fatty liver, kidney stones and swollen organs are the common findings — an abdominal scan answers most of them.
Pelvic pain or heavy periods
Pelvic ultrasound looks for fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometrial thickening and PCOS-pattern ovaries.
A lump you can feel
Neck, breast, groin, scrotum or under the skin — ultrasound is the first-line scan for a palpable lump.
Thyroid symptoms
Where thyroid bloods are abnormal or a nodule is felt, a thyroid ultrasound characterises it and guides whether a biopsy is needed.
Swollen or painful leg
A Doppler venous scan checks for deep vein thrombosis. Sudden calf swelling with breathlessness is an emergency — call 998.
Follow-up of a known finding
Cysts, nodules and gallstones often just need interval imaging rather than intervention. We schedule and track the follow-up.
Ultrasound is safe, has no radiation and can be repeated as often as needed — which is exactly why it is over-requested. A large share of the scans patients ask us for would not change the plan. Where bloods, an examination or watchful waiting answers the question better, we will say so rather than send you for imaging.

Do I need a referral for an ultrasound in Dubai?+
Most accredited imaging centres in Dubai will only scan you with a doctor's request form that states the clinical question. A GP consultation at Aafiyah Care (AED 400) produces that request, and it means the radiologist is answering a specific question rather than scanning blind.
Does Aafiyah Care perform ultrasound scans in the clinic?+
No. We are a GP-led primary care clinic, not an imaging centre. We assess you, decide whether a scan is genuinely the right next step, refer you to an accredited radiology partner, and then interpret the report with you.
How quickly can I get an ultrasound?+
Routine abdominal, pelvic, thyroid, scrotal and soft-tissue scans are usually available within one to three working days of the referral. Where symptoms suggest something urgent, we flag it and the imaging centre normally accommodates same-day or next-day.
How much does an ultrasound cost in Dubai?+
Imaging centres in Dubai typically charge from around AED 350 to AED 800 per region scanned, depending on the site and the centre. That is paid to the imaging centre; the GP consultation and results interpretation is separate.
What can an ultrasound actually show?+
Ultrasound is excellent for gallstones, kidney stones and kidney size, liver texture and fatty liver, thyroid nodules, ovarian cysts and fibroids, testicular lumps, breast lumps in younger women, soft-tissue lumps, and blood flow in veins when a clot is suspected. It cannot see bone detail or most of the lung.
Who explains the scan report?+
Your GP does. The radiologist describes what is on the image; the GP puts it against your symptoms, bloods and history and tells you what it means for you — treat, repeat, refer or reassure.
Can I claim the scan back on insurance?+
We are not insurance-based, so we do not bill insurers directly. We provide a fully coded invoice and the clinical letter, which most international and local insurers accept for reimbursement. Check your own policy terms before booking.
Imaging is not the route for an emergency. With chest pain, severe breathlessness, heavy bleeding or sudden weakness, call 998 or attend the nearest emergency department.
