Employer responsibilities for employee health in the UAE

UAE labour legislation requires an employer to provide a safe and appropriate working environment. In practice that means managing the working conditions that create risk, giving employees a confidential route to clinical care, and not asking clinicians for individual health information about staff.

This page is general information

This is general information for employers, not legal advice, and not a statement of your obligations in a specific case. Employment law questions should go to a qualified UAE employment lawyer.

Arranging a health programme does not by itself discharge an employer's statutory duties.

The duty to provide a safe working environment

UAE labour legislation places a duty on employers to provide a safe and appropriate working environment for employees. That covers the physical environment and the way work is organised.

Health screening sits alongside that duty rather than replacing it. Screening tells you about people; the duty is about conditions.

Psychosocial risk at work

The ILO and WHO describe psychosocial risks as arising from how work is designed and managed: excessive workload, low job control, unclear roles, long or unpredictable hours, job insecurity, and unfair or hostile treatment.

These are organisational factors. They are addressed by changing how work runs, and clinical support does not substitute for that.

Where clinical support fits

An employer can make GP-led care easy to reach — employee health checks, a corporate GP arrangement, and clear follow-up when a result needs it — so that an employee who needs care is not delayed by cost, admin or fear of disclosure.

Aafiyah delivers that care from its Business Bay clinic and on site at your workplace across Dubai.

Employee privacy

Individual clinical information belongs to the employee. Aafiyah shares results with the employee directly and never discloses an individual's results, diagnosis or medicines to an employer.

Employers receive only anonymised, aggregate information agreed in advance, and only where group numbers are large enough that no individual can be identified.

What Aafiyah does not provide

We do not provide formal occupational-health certification or fitness-to-work certification, and we do not provide school health services.

If your organisation needs statutory occupational-health certification, that is a separate regulated service and we will say so rather than take the work.

Questions employers ask

What should an employer do about work-related stress?

Employers can look at the working conditions that generate stress — workload, job control, role clarity, working hours and fair processes — and make confidential clinical support available. UAE labour legislation requires employers to provide a safe and appropriate working environment.

This is general information, not legal advice, and arranging a health programme does not by itself discharge an employer's statutory duties. Individual employees are supported clinically and confidentially.

What employers ask before choosing a provider

How do we choose a corporate health provider in Dubai?

+

Ask who actually delivers the care, whether it is one accountable clinical team or a dispatch network, how confidentiality is handled, and what the employer will and will not receive. Ask for the licence details of the clinic behind the service, and how follow-up works after a finding.

What are an employer's responsibilities for employee health in the UAE?

+

UAE employers must provide legally required medical insurance, keep the workplace safe, and respect employee medical confidentiality. Clinical results belong to the employee. Aafiyah does not provide statutory occupational-health certification or fitness-to-work certificates.

Is employee health information kept confidential from the employer?

+

Yes. Individual results go to the employee. Employers receive only anonymised aggregate reporting agreed before the programme starts, and only where group size makes anonymity genuine. Nothing identifiable is shared without the employee's explicit written consent.

What does a corporate wellness programme in Dubai include?

+

A corporate wellness programme with Aafiyah Care Clinic combines employee health checks, GP access, on-site screening days and workplace health education, scoped to your workforce. Every element is delivered by our own British-trained, GP-led clinical team from our Business Bay clinic — not subcontracted to a dispatch app.

How do we start an employee wellbeing programme for our company?

+

Tell us your headcount, sites and what you want the programme to achieve. We propose a scope — screening content, delivery format, on-site days, GP access — and confirm what employees receive and what the employer receives. Programmes are quoted bespoke; there is no fixed package to fit into.

Do you work with SMEs as well as large employers in Dubai?

+

Yes. Workplace wellness works for a ten-person team as well as a thousand-person workforce; the difference is delivery format. Smaller teams often attend the Business Bay clinic in booked slots, while larger workforces are better served by an on-site health day at your office.
