Is IBS the same as IBD?+
No. IBS is a functional disorder; IBD (Crohn's, ulcerative colitis) is inflammatory and shows on tests. We always check faecal calprotectin to tell them apart.
Does the low-FODMAP diet really help?+
For 60–70% of IBS patients, yes — done properly in three phases with a trained dietitian. We don't recommend doing it long-term without reintroduction.
