Rough age-adjusted upper limits: under 50 — 2.5 ng/mL; 50–59 — 3.5; 60–69 — 4.5; over 70 — 6.5. Any persistent rise or rapid increase needs investigation regardless of the absolute number.
What can falsely raise PSA?+
Recent ejaculation (within 48 hours), vigorous cycling, urinary tract infection, prostatitis, recent prostate exam or catheterisation — all raise PSA. We rebook if any of these apply.
Should every man over 50 have PSA testing?+
